WOOD PRICE REFERENCE

How lumber prices are checked and compared

A price is useful when you can inspect what it buys and where it came from. These rules keep a recently checked website from being mistaken for a current supplier offer.

Checked is different from effective

The observed timestamp records a successful source check. The document date comes from the publisher’s sheet or page. An effective date is kept only when explicitly established; it is not inferred from retrieval time, a file modification header or a search snippet.

Month-only document dates stay month-only. A page with no stated date remains undated even after another successful check.

Compare the same product and purchase basis

Exact comparison requires matching species, grade, treatment, moisture, dimensions, length, profile, unit, quantity basis, buying channel and geographic scope. Panels also need their applicable construction and rating details. Unknown fields do not create a match.

A descriptive mean is calculated only for independent complete matched observations with established price-effective dates. The present corpus has no qualifying multi-supplier group, so no regional average is shown.

Keep the original unit

A mill bundle is not a retail piece. The MCBS references preserve the full 208-piece bundle price and show a clearly labeled per-piece equivalent inside that bundle; they do not imply single-piece availability. Board feet, linear feet and pieces are never silently interchanged.

Update history without rewriting the past

Source versions and actual checks are retained. An unchanged page does not acquire a new price-effective date. A missing item or failed source is flagged; its old value is not replaced by zero or promoted as fresh.

Each reference retains its source date. Confirm current prices and availability with the supplier. MCBS states a weekly cadence, while other inspected sources generally do not promise a daily or weekly release.

Reference boundaries

Freight, tax and availability are not inferred. These are source-linked observations, not current supplier offers, endorsements or a live commercial feed. Confirm the full specification, current price and availability directly with the supplier.

Inspect the source list or return to the price workbench.
